Tattoo: Portal Turret

This is a turret from Portal. This specific one, for those of you who have played Portal 2, is the one who escaped the production line.

The life of a turret is simple. They are built, tested, put in a box, removed from the box, recycled, used as parts for a new turret. A never ending cycle. But one got away, and when you find him, he says, “I’m different”. He looks like all the others, but somehow, he ended up different.

The words in the background don’t really say anything, I told the artist to do whatever he wanted, it just had to be garbled and gibberish. Along with the little red hearts, the background was inspired by one of the walls of a rat’s den.

Gallery: Portal Crossplay

Costume made by Rebecca and worn by Tom
Source: Clothplay

Tom made the gun which has LED orange and blue lights. Had a few issues with the fabric as my local fabric store had run out of the right orange fabric so I dyed it. I also ran out of time as the commission was very late and hence it is missing quite a few details.

Leave it to a guy to make certain he's got the biggest portal gun on the convention floor.

This guy actually came all the way in from the UK! Take note of his SEGA lanyard, and his awesome portal cosplay.

Cristina Gomez as Chell @ Anime Weekend Atlanta (AWA) 2008

Although Chell's origins are unknown, she was most definitely among the people present during GLaDOS's activation in 200-, as GLaDOS locked down the facility after her activation, letting none escape, or be let in from the outside.

My other favourite photo of my Chell costume. 8D It was really hard walking on the balls of my feet all night. .__.

GamingGoddess as Chell From Portal

Taken at KitaCon III - Hilton Hotel, Birmingham

Didn't have a lot of time to take this as this corridor was seeing heavy use sadly, pretty sure I could've gotten the lighting to look better if I'd played around a bit but at least reasonably happy it has a sort of Aperture Science look to it rather than random hotel shortcut corrior

This is a photo of my portal cosplay taking by the wonderful many lemons (nert). The jump suit was modified but the gun and heel springs self made. This is version 1.0 so there are a lot of things I am looking to change but hoping to have version 2.0 ready for expo.

I made the jumpsuit myself. Modifying patterns isn't easy! The only drawback to my first ever jumpsuit is that it's not stretchy material, and because Chell's jumpsuit was so fitting, I have no give. Bending over was rather... difficult since you're trying not to rip the jumpsuit while still trying to pick your things up, while the fabric is not letting you move much either way.

My sister made the leg springs, and her and my dad made a quick but cosmetically alright looking portal gun. It doesn't look too much like the in-game gun because we needed it to be held.

P.S.: We made two (even 4) of everything, because me and my sister were going to have travel portals to pose in since we're similar in build and appearance. The bad news, we didn't get our transportable portals made in time. But we still had FUN!

This is the first costume I have actually made. I love how the braces came out and the costume. Not a huge fan of the gun, but for a first attempt I'm not too disappointed. Yes that is a companion cube purse. Made by my friend!

Chell from Portal! Very nicely made.

My fingers are still numb from carrying the gun, and I have third degree burns from gluing the heel springs to my legs. It was sooooo worth it.

I love getting tapped on the shoulder and then turning around to find Chell and an adorable fuzzy companion cube. We had fun chatting about how much we're looking forward to Portal 2.

Great cosplay :D

Gallery: Portal Tattoos

US$19.00

So, I finally took the plunge and got a tattoo. It's the aperture science logo from Portal, but I wound up getting it because it was the best looking representation of a camera's aperture blades that I could find... So, now I'm inked, heh.

My REAL tattoos. the picture looks like they are a little off (because of my cell phone...) but I assure you they are the exact EXACT image of the portal 0 in the portal logo. one blue one orange.. obviously.

Lol, I thought a dedicated couple could quite enjoy having such tattoos, especially if they were a gamer... Who knows maybe their wedding vows would be "And I promise that my cake will never be a lie."

Gallery: Chell from Portal

I understand that somebody cropped out my watermark and that photo's been passed along the internet . A lot. Look, dude, it's there for a reason. Don't do that, it's not cool to us artists/costumers. Thank you to those that are giving me credit where credit is due, tho.

Here's a more "professional" looking photo of my Chell, to replace that random con-scenario shot XD Note that I didn't touch the blue lights on my face in photoshop- the lights are just really friggin' bright.

Been a couple years since I uploaded that photo of my Chell costume, and boy howdy, did it get around...Deschanel should pay me to be her stunt-double, or so says the internet. I honestly forgot that Portal 2 is almost here! Love the new bot-buddies. Tho I would never be caught dead in Chell's new duds, good lord that thing is HIDEOUS

I just... really like the portal gun. I wonder if she has cake.

My costume of Chell from Portal. Entire costume made by me, except the Portal Gun which was made by Concolor22. The Heelsprings are made from FunFoam sheets and Floral Wire.

I'm surprised that a costume so ordinary looking (compared to other work I've done) has gotten such positive attention. I wanted to make this as a comfy, easy costume and people have gone nuts over it.  Photo taken by SkyPirate at All-Con 2008.

My new Chell (from Portal) cosplay at All-Con 2008, Dallas TX. I brought a mini cake with me, and it actually helped to identify who I was.
